The lifecycle

Nine stages, applied to every engagement.

Stage 01 Discover

Understand the requirement before proposing a solution.

We map the business requirement, the environment you already run and the result you expect. Requirements get challenged here, while changing them is still cheap.

Stage 02 Plan

Agree scope, responsibilities and acceptance criteria.

Scope, architecture, delivery plan, responsibilities, risks and acceptance criteria are confirmed in writing. Ambiguity here becomes ambiguity during an incident.

Stage 03 Design

Prepare the structure, experience and technical direction.

Site or solution structure, user experience, technical design and visual direction are decided together — because a system that cannot be deployed or monitored is not finished, however good the design.

Stage 04 Develop

Build it in controlled, reviewable increments.

The website, application, automation suite, pipeline or database implementation is built in slices you can see and react to, rather than disappearing for three months and returning with something to argue about.

Stage 05 Test

Find the failures before your customers do.

Manual QA, automation where it applies, integration validation and a release-readiness check. Including the awkward cases that only the people doing the job every day think to try.

Stage 06 Deploy

Going live, as a planned procedure rather than a leap.

Nothing goes live without a written plan of the exact steps, a list of what we check afterwards, and an agreed way to put things back as they were if something is wrong. The same care whether it is a first launch or a small Tuesday update.

Stage 07 Monitor

Watch continuously, not periodically.

Stage 08 Support

Resolve, maintain, and handle what comes next.

Defects resolved, the solution maintained, and future change requests estimated and approved before work starts. Recurring problems get a root cause rather than another restart.

Stage 09 Grow

Keep the brand around the system moving.

These are the working standards we hold ourselves to on every engagement, regardless of scope or engagement model.

Scope before signature

What we monitor, what we deploy, what we support and where our responsibility ends are written down before an engagement starts. Ambiguity in scope becomes ambiguity during an incident.

Documentation is a deliverable

Runbooks, escalation paths, inventory and configuration records are produced as the work is done — not reconstructed later when someone leaves.

Alerts must be actionable

An alert that nobody acts on trains people to ignore alerts. Thresholds are tuned continuously so that what reaches a human is worth waking up for.

Rollback is planned, not improvised

No production change proceeds without a defined recovery position. The decision to roll back should be a procedure, not a judgement call at 2am.

Escalate with diagnosis attached

When something needs your team, it arrives with what we have already checked and ruled out — not as a forwarded alert.

Report in plain language

Daily operational updates and monthly service reviews are written to be read by engineering leads and by management, without translation.

    You do not have to give us the build to get the rest. Most of our operational work is on systems somebody else wrote, and that independence is often the reason we are engaged.
